Strappete

A historic farm for 4 generations

Ours is a small artisan oil mill that in addition to pressing its own olives, transforms olives from trusted local producers. For four generations now the Mazzone family has been preserving and perpetuating the art of producing Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

We have always been committed to providing milling services to small olive growers, we work with passion in the name of transparency, fairness and professionalism, because the age of the curtain does not lie.

Tommaso Mazzone raised the first oil mill in the early thirties, challenging those who told him that with the earth and olives no luck is made. Who was really right, will say the time. It is certain that from that obstinate ancestor was born the story of an oil that today is also sold in Florida at our store in Sarasota.

But many things remained exactly as they were originally. Starting with the oath to preserve our agricultural landscape, the rural culture of our Ruvo and our olive trees of strategic importance for our food.

We continue to harvest the olives with our hands and to squeeze them cold in the ancient stone grinder. To travel in the direction of Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil without compromise. And of course to be what we have always been, producers before traders.

In 1991 Giacomo, Tommaso’s grandson, driven by a passion for the agricultural world and for the vineyards, bought this plot in the Strappete district , where he planted 5,000 cuttings which he would then graft with the Bombino Nero variety. In 2005 Giuseppe, Giacomo’s son took over the farm to continue the family tradition. In fact, in 2007 he planted 4,000 stocks of Nero di Troia and 3,000 stocks of Fiano. In 2017, when the vineyard has now reached 10 years, Giuseppe decides to bottle his own wine with his own brand, Strappete.
